Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 amβ3 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (845) 600-6819. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is fromthegroundupfood.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 82 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded cafes in Highland.
Highland is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Highland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

From the Ground Up is an absolute hidden gem! We had such a great experience here. Our server was wonderful, and I genuinely had the best bacon, egg & cheese on a croissant with hash browns Iβve ever had in my life. Everything was fresh, delicious, and perfectly cooked. Donβt be discouraged by the fact that itβs located inside a 55+ community, or if the cafΓ© looks a little empty when you first arrive. Go in! This place deserves way more attention. The food and service were fantastic, and we absolutely loved it. We also came with our kids and found it to be very kid-friendly, which made the experience even better for us. Definitely one of those places youβre happy you discovered. Weβll absolutely be back!

This place is Definitely a Hidden Gem and Iβm glad I was able to google and select it as our place to eat Breakfast before heading back home 6.5 hours. Food is AWESOME- ALL NATURAL AND MADE FROM SCRATCH!!!! Even The Delicious Whip Cream!!!!!! Fruit compote - Out of this World!! Alyssa was an Awesome Server and tended to our needs and Questions about any preservatives in the condiments and lemonade! A MUST TO DEFINITELY GO BACK WHENEVER WE ARE IN THE AREA OF POUGHKEEPSIE OR HYDE PARK !!

6 out of 5 stars!! Nestled inside a community area, lotsa greeneries outside. Alyssa was super helpful & courteous. And the food is simply amazing. Toasts are to perfection. Pancakes are super fluffy with tons of fruit (!!). Generous portion. I am so full just on half a shepherds pie. (Def will take rest to go) The only downside is now I am holding other cafe eateries to such (unfair) standards.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience here last weekend - Christine, our server was amiable, knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent food preparation, quality and taste. Reasonable prices and good selection. Bottled beer and hard cider is available, as well as wine. We enjoyed the satellite music that was playing in the background. With the chicken tortilla soup, though, I recommend adding crunchy tortilla strips as a topping addition, just prior to serving. We asked about the possibility of the establishment offering a few fresh tap beer varieties in the future, rather than the current bottled/canned selection, and yes, that may soon be an option. Highly recommend this restaurant located in the Highland Vineyard Commons condo community.
